Detailed Program Description |
Future Link, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the creation and implementation of a replicable model for offering community support to vulnerable yet motivated young adults who want to work towards a brighter future. Through the NET program, Future Link, Inc. provides youth coaches, self-advocacy education and other academic, vocational and career supports to assist vulnerable yet motivated Montgomery County, MD youth aged 16 to 25 successfully transition into adulthood.
The NET program provides the tools, techniques, education and connections
youth need to succeed. For youth, we offer the nationally recognized
Getting Beyond the System® seminar
(NET 1) and the opportunity to work
one-to-one with a volunteer coach to set and work towards goals (NET 2).
Youth enrolled in our program are also provided with Informational Interviews
with professionals in the field of their career interests (NET 3) and are eligible
for scholarship money and access to other educational, vocational, employment
and internship opportunities (NET 4).
Future Link, Inc. is seeking broad and diverse collaborations with corporations,
community professionals, other nonprofits, agencies and service providers
interested in investing in motivated youth working toward a brighter future.
At the core of the NET program is a small and highly committed cadere of
volunteers. Currently, we are seeking volunteer facilitators for the
Getting Beyond the System® seminar, volunteer youth coaches
and professionals
in multiple disciplines to serve on the
Professional Advisory Council.
Who Does Future Link, Inc. Serve?
The NET program is entirely voluntary and is designed for motivated young adults aged
16-25 in Montgomery County who are willing to work
toward a brigher future. The program requires a considerable comitment on the part of young adult participants. In exchange, the NET program
provides extensive community connections. The program is not appropriate for young adults who are chronically mentally ill or violent.
Vulnerable youth can be broadly defined as:
- Youth emancipating from foster care,
- Runaway and homeless youth,
- Youth involved in the juvenile justice system,
- Immigrant youth,
- Youth with physical and mental disabilities,
- Youth receiving special education,
- Young single mothers and fathers,
- High school dropouts,
- Disconnected youth neither working nor attending school.
Final eligibility decisions are made by the NET Program Director.
